Just curious why they are choosing people with bad reps when we have some amazing FWISD people in the AP pool who desperately want an AP job.

Exactly, how in the world would you hire a person who has made poor decisions as a principal? What strategy is that?
on 7/27/13 - 03:31PM
Ann, do you still feel the district and you as a board member made the right decision to hire Dr. Shaver to begin with?
on 7/27/13 - 04:57PM
I don't know enough about it to make this judgment. Staff has to do the research and make this decision.
on 7/27/13 - 07:05PM
Please make sure that due diligence is placed when hiring people. Yes the admin reviews the candidates but at some point you need to quickly ask why these people are the right fit or anything that we know of. Perhaps get their names so board members can research on their own. Those of us who work with some know a lot more of what goes on behind the scenes.

Ann,you said in the FW Weekly that you had looked into Dr. Shaver yourself and felt like she was the person for the job. Why are stating here that you were leaving the decision up to the Adminstration. You need to pick a story and stick to it.
Not trying to be rude, but really. Why do you say one thing then turn around and say another? Please be true to your word. People are counting on you.

Ann, can you please let us know what the rules are for hiring either a family member of a board member or a family member of a higher up please. Thank you.
on 7/29/13 - 05:04PM
Whatever the case. I praise the board for going back and reviewing the issue. This could have been a friend of a friend, who thought that they were doing the right thing. We don't know all the information on the principal. Maybe she has her side. However, take time to review it with more care, and if you find that she has done no wrongdoing, them maybe it can work. You know that FWISD has sometimes non renewed people or fired people who could be good....we don't know the backstory on this woman. I am willing to let you all do more research....but don't just take a word for the central office people...they may be doing favors...and what we don't need are more administrators who will tow the line, even when wrongdoing is done..that might be my concern...

I will check and post a reply in a day or two. Thanks for your interest.

Ann, why do we continue to hire VPs and Principals that are under the supervision of our Directors? That doesn't seem right. Several of the new VPs have mothers or aunts that are Directors.

Voter Observation, Board members are as guilty as central office for doing favors. Are you really unaware of that?

Board policy DBE(Local) prohibits hiring anyone within the 3rd degree of the Superintendent or board member:
The District shall not employ any person who is related by blood
within the third degree, or by marriage within the second degree, to
a member of the Board or the Superintendent. [See DBE (EXHIBIT)] This rule does not apply to an employee who has been
continuously employed for a period of one year prior to the election
or appointment of the officials named.
